Another fact that puts a damper in the Turing tribute theory is that
the rainbow flag was developed by Gilbert Baker in 1978 (See
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/scotts/bulgarians/rainbow-flag.html
for an online reference to the origin of the rainbow flag) and the
Apple rainbow logo was created in 1977 (based on your Apple II history
link above.)
