MIT does have summer semester, although most people don't attend (everyone believes in IHTFP). The dorms and fraternities rent out their space to people, so there is definitely room, I just don't know how much. The Kendall T stop opens directly onto the main campus, about a fifteen minute walk from the dorms, and five minutes from the main buildings. There are multiple lecture halls each capable of seating 250-400 people (10-250, 26-100, 34-101, 54-100), along with plenty of smaller rooms that can handle groups from 20 to 60 people).
