I followed up after sending that to point out two bugs I had missed
originally. You've just pointed out a third.

I guess I was in a pseudocode mindset when I wrote the code; actually
running the code would have revealed these oversights rather quickly.

I just tested a corrected version, and I see that it fails on the pattern
match. I'll repost this after fixing it.
