Short answer:  yes I've checked.

Yeah, any other site I could think of that's using cookies works fine 
when using
Safari.

Yeah, I've tried command line and prints to the browser screen.  As far 
as I can
tell everything is doing what it should be doing.  Except for writing 
the cookie
to the safari cookie collection, of course.
