Max Butler, aka 'Max Vision' did 18 months in jail for a worm that found vulnerable DNS servers and downloaded patches as necessary. Very clever. Very illegal, inspite of his noble motives. Max was the original operator of the arachnids and whitehats.org sites back in the day. Before he disappeared into the California legal system. An update on his saga can be read here: http://www.landfield.com/isn/mail-archive/2002/Sep/0003.html Googling for "max vision" will turn up lots of drama on the guy's life between 1996 - 2001. He was a hero and martyr for lots of us white hats. This case is one reason most white hats keep very low profiles and use lots of aliases. brack ------------------------------------------------- Email solutions, MS Exchange alternatives and extrication, security services, systems integration.
