Hi all: Aaron Miripol from Thistle asked me to forward the below on to all of you. At our last meeting, we voted to support the option that Aaron is advocating for but it is good information to take to your boards too.

Dear Friends and partners of Affordable housing, Boulder City Council and Planning Boards will be holding public hearings to review proposed options for the Transit Village Area Plan, covering the transit hub that will be located between 30th Street and Foothills Parkway. As a partner, Thistle would like to encourage you to become involved with the Transit Village planning process before the plan is finalized in December 2006. The city has assessed four options for the Transit Village Area Plan to see how the options would impact or benefit different areas of interest. The city has scheduled the following meetings to elicit community feedback on the different options. § Today - Open House, Municipal Building Lobby, 1777 Broadway, 5:00 - 6:30 § Sept. 20 - Tortilleria y Taqueria El Rey, 2966 Valmont Rd., 5:30 - 7:30 § Sept. 25 - Boulder Chamber of Commerce, 2440 Pearl St., 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. § Sept. 27 - West Senior Center, 909 Arapahoe Ave., 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. § Oct. 4 - West Senior Center, 909 Arapahoe Ave., 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Thistle is supporting Transit Village development Option 2, Junction Center. Junction Center would provide the most permanently affordable housing of any of the Transit Village options. With an estimated 470 permanently affordable added at Junction Center this would provide more than twice the number of affordable homes of the other two options. It would also create the greatest opportunity for local retail, the viability of which would be enhanced by having a higher number of residents present. Additionally, Junction Center would offer the best option for sustainable transportation producing the lowest level of automobile traffic of any of the options. In short, the Junction Center Option would provide the greatest advantage to the community allowing current residents to remain in Boulder rather being displaced by the high cost of housing. Please find attached a letter describing Thistles support for the Junction Center Option in greater detail. Thistle encourages you to become involved with the Transit Village Area planning process by attending planning meetings, sending letters to the Boulder City Council, Planning Board, and Transportation Advisory Board, and by completing the online survey located at bouldertransitvillage.net. Additional information and materials regarding the Transit Village Area Plan can be found on Boulders website for the Transit Village located at bouldertransitvillage.net. Much Thanks Aaron
