I don't know if this will work, but Jonathan Mosen posted this to the list a while back

HumanWare has no relationship with the company concerned.

There've been a few people interested in good microphones for the
BrailleNote mPower. Recently I purchased a microphone from a small
company
called Giant Squid Audio lab. It's a gold plated microphone housed in a
standard 3.5 mm plug. So what you get is a plug that goes into the
microphone socket of your BrailleNote mPower, and the microphone is
included in the actual plug. No wires to worry about or anything to
hold.
The quality of this little microphone is remarkable, the frequency
response
is superb. And it is omnidirectional, which means that it's ideal for
recording sound in any direction anywhere in the room. I used this
microphone as part of my most recent podcast and am delighted with the
results. It only costs around US$19.

There are other microphone products available as well.

The URL for the company is

will this work?

Subject: [Braillenote] Recommendations for external microphone

I would like to learn from those who have made recordings with the M
Power units. I am interested in purchasing an external microphone for
use with the M Power. Ideally, I'd like to hear about mikes that one can
purchase from stores such as Radio Shack. I will be leaving the U.S. for
Hong Kong in less than a week, and I have to purchase my microphone
before that time.

So, if anyone can recommend a particularly good microphone, I would be
grateful. Thank you in advance for any help.
