If this happened as described below, (and I see no reason to doubt it)
someone at Humanware needs a bit of sensitivity training. The needs of
those who are deaf blind are often overlooked and this is unfortunate.

Hi Dean,
Thanks for clearing up the calibraiton issue.

As to the noise, I can't hear it. A friend was here while I was
working
on the Mpower and heard it. (I think the problem was that, for my
friend's
benefit, I had the speech on.) In any case, I'm grateful for the BN
List.
(smile)

SInce I am writing, would it be possible for you to e-Mail me privately
to
let me know whom I can contact regarding the problem with my ordoer for
an
upgrade?

To explain, when I called TUesday, using the Relay, the person in
sales,
named Tracy, told me I could not change my order. I said if that was
the
case, I'd need to cancel, because I was not confident enough to work
with a
download. However, I didn't realize, until I called my Bank, (on my
Telebraille) that Tracy had billed my credit card for $195 on January
11th.. I admit to being surprised, because in the past, I've never
been
billed for a product before it was delivered.

While I was on the Telebraille with the Bank, Tracy called back and
left a
voicemail message saying my order was cancelled as of Januar 20; and,
from
now on, I would not be allowed to place an order except in writing.

FOr the record, I've been a Humanware customer for over 15 years and
never
encountered a problem ordering anything.
FIrst, Tracy used a back file to charge my credit card. I did not
provide
any information or place an order last week, becaue Tracy would not
clarify what I had to do to get the SD card version. COnsequently, I
contacted a friend, who happens to be a Physician, and asked him to
get
the informaiton for me. Dr. Hildebrand will confirm that I did not ask
him
to order anything; an, he dos not havemy credit card information.

Second, I have no mailbox nearby. COnsequently, I would not be able to
mail
a letter before Friday. SUch a letter would not arrive in COncord
before
the KS upgrade relase on January 23. That means it would not arrive in
time
for the $235 SMA purchase. More to the point, I'd need to send a check
and
prefer to use my credit card. (I don't send credit card information
through
the mail or do I use it online.)

Third, I'm told by several friends, via e-Mail, and a local attorney,
that,
to deny me the right to place an order via a Relay telephone call is
discriminating.

It is unfortunate for those of us who are deaf-blind, that some folks
with
hearing just aren't comfortable handling a Relay call. FOrtunately,
most of
the employees at Humanware have the patience and skill to do so.
(However,
Many of the m have a tendency to talk too fast for the Relay Agecnt to
type
their comments, so the person who accepted my call looses patience.

Dean, I know you, personally, are not involved with orders. HOwever, I
don't know whom to contact and I DO want the 7.0 upgrade. I also want
o
ask how I can receive announcements about upgrades, so this confusion
doesn't occur again. (I didn't know downloading was a common practice.
I've
never done a download of software for any product. So, I really prder
a SD
card version.of the KS upgrades)

Your help would be apprecaited.

Kathleen (KC) Spear
