Hi Terri, The comments you make about the braille manual are very good. I can see how having odd symbols would make a difference in the copy.
RE the velcro on the strap of the BRAILLENOTE. The strap is designed with the little excessory pouch in mind which contains the GPS equipment. The velcro is used to hold the serial cable which runs from the charger to the GPS receiver which is held in place by the elastic sleeve. Ann P.
