I wondered if mowst of you just leave the cards in the machines, and also if
it's
necessary to remove them before doing a reset.

Pam, the only card I have, now anyway, is my AmbiCom wireless network card.
While I understand Kathy and Christin's points about it drawing battery
power if it's in the machine and not being used, every time I withdraw my
AmbiCom, my mPower needs a service reset to get the speech started. Since I
have a VoiceNote, I find the lack of speech rather frightening and it's
easier on my poor heart to simply leave the card in the slot. Now I haven't
been in a position, yet, to be away from a power outlet with my mPower for a
long period of time. If this were to happen, I would pull the card, do a
service reset and keep the card out. As far as SD cards, since they don't
draw battery power, unless HumanWare has a reason for not leaving the card
in the slot, I'd just leave the SD card in. I have a Book Port which uses
compact flashcards and I never have the BP without a card in it.
