James,
I'm sorry. Okay here we go,
1. Reset with no keys held down is just like rebooting your computer.
2. Reset with dots 123 reverts to the version burned in to rom and is
used to clear up problems that the regular reset doesn't clear up. You
also use it to install keysoft updates or other software made by
HumanWare or Sendero.

3. A reset with dots 456 held down is a hard reset resetting the unit
back to factory defaults, you have to reset time and date and all of
that stuff. Its used when the memory gets corrupt or when the BN is
being very stubborn.
4. Record and reset held together, just like unplugging your computer
from the wall while its on, not a good idea and in the manual they tell
you not to do it.
You can reinstall software that's on flash cards if necessary but you
can't reinstall something that's burned in to rom if you don't have a
copy of it on an external source, but you shouldn't have to so don't
worry about it. Resets shouldn't delete data unless your in the middle
of something and you didn't save.

Ok thx but that doesn't really answer my question - I've not use a

could re install the sotere of I needed to?

Thansk

James
