Hello. This is Joseph. I too have BrailleNote BT18. I am happy to tell you
about Braille Sense.
As you know BrailleSense was origially called Hansone (Hahn-sohn-nae). It
means, through one fingertip in Korean (yes I am Korean). Here are som thins to
consider:
1. The megahertz is a unit of how a processor can handle processes. Both
devices have same amount (400 megahertz). Just like your computer. For example,
you have a laptop with a 3.06 Gigahertz processor and a desktop with 2.8
Gigahertz processor. The laptop might be faster because the processor on the
laptop has a faster frequency.
2. Bluetooth and Wireless: Both devices have wireless support. But BrailleNote
mPower has a built-in Bluetooth receiver. The difference between wireless and
Bluetooth is this: Wireless is a form of Ethernet communication that does not
require cables. In other words, it is the wireless version of Ethernet
connection. Bluetooth is same thing, except that you connect two devices
wirelessly i.e. BrailleNote mPower and a Nokia cell phone. It is like a
wireless version of USB cable.
3. Cost: If you want your BrailleNote to be transplanted, the cost is $1995. If
you want to buy a new BrailleNote mPower 18, that's about $4500. (I'm not sure
about 18 cells but the 32-cell version is about $6000, as of Oct. 1, 2005.).
4. Memory: BrailleNote mPower has 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of Flash. Braille
Sense has 64 MB of RAM and 64 MB of Flash.
I hope this information may clarify your needs. Cheers.

Hi Everyone,
First I am not trying to start a discussion about which product is better. If
this message puts me on moderator status I understand. I feel that I need to
make a decision whether I want the Braillenote MPOWER or the Braille Sense. I
plan to see if an email list for Braille Sense users is available and subscribe.
The info I learned about the Braille Sense came from GW Micro's Web site. I
hope these questions make sense.

1. The Web site mentioned the Megahurtz for the Braille Sense. I am not
technically savvy with these terms what are the megahurtz for the BN and how is
this important when considering a product? Like the higher the number is that
better and why or why not?

2. Is there a difference between wireless and bluetooth? If so what is the
difference? The Web site said the Braille Sense doesn't have bluetooth
capability. Does the MPOWER have this capability?

4. How much RAM does the MPOWER have? Is RAM like the memory amount a unit has?

5. To have my unit transpanted to the MPOWER (my unit is BT 18 cells) how much
does that cost?

6. If I didn't have my unit transplanted and I purchased the MPOWER 18 cells BT
unit how much would that be?

My intent is not to give up my present BN. My theory is if my MPOWER or Braille
Sense whatever I decide on needed to go in for repair I'd still have a
notetaker to use.

One major concern I would have is how well the Keyword files would transfer to
the Braille sense and how well files created on the Braille Sense would
transfer to the BN.

A lot of the terminology confuses me. I looked at the comparison chart on GW
Micro's Web site which was helpful but confused me.

Any assistance anyone can provide would be helpful. I'm going to speak with the
people again GW Micro and ask lots of questions.

Lisa
