I prefer using the BrailleNote instead of hard copy. First, you can edit your copy and that's handy for people in choir because some changes are always made. You can't make changes in a hard copy unless you write it over again.

Second, you can take hymn books and Bibles with you. You can't lug around braille Bibles or hymn books unless you have a cart or wheelbarrow.

I believe it's a good idea to have a backup of Bibles and hymn books in hard copy in case the electricity goes out and the battery in your BN is dead.

If you correspond with a blind person who doesn't have a notetaker or braille display, you'd need to put the letter on paper.

Sighted companies still use paper and send stuff by snail mail.

I haven't sent a printed letter in the mail for I don't know how long. I use email, (grin).

By the way, the BrailleNote is the best tool for ham radio operators to write down the check-ins for nets and handling traffic, radiograms. It beats the PC and even the good old Perkins brailler.

Hi.
I most definitely love my notetaker, and now that i use it and my daisy
reader for everything, I hate hard copy.

Sandi,
You have to do what's best for you. At first when I was learning the BN,
I used hard copies for speeches, but when I was comfortable with my BN,
I'd use the display. I ultimately found the BN easier because you didn't
have to stop and flip pages. There also wasn't a risk of dropping the
pages and loosing the order. Its up to you though.

Subject: [Braillenote] Braillenote or hard copy

Good morning all,

Tomorrow I am presenting at our semi-annual inservice
day at work.
I spent the time making a hard copy of my speech. I
don't feel comfortable
using my braillenot for my speech. What I want to know
is what other people
do. It is an interactive speech and I will be doing
some starting and
stopping.

I did not write it myself. It is a scripted
presentation. ugh.

I am just curious what other people do.
I will use my hard copy tomorrow because that is what
I am the most
comfortable with this time.

Thanks
Sandi
