Dear Jim, I didn't notice any distortion, but there was a lot of hissing and crackling in the background and the audio was quite low. I don't have an external mike, so I can't compare recordings. But I can compare the recording of the BN to the recording feature on my LG VX4500 and the cell phone sounds better!
