Hi Jean, Put them in your main Jaws directory. In my case, I put them in:
c:\program files\freedom scientific\jaws\7.0 I just put all four of the files right there with all those other files. And, oh, in looking again just now, when you unzip the file downloaded from the HW site, looks like one of the files in that four has a zip extension. So, you would want to unzip that PDIhooks file as well, and then transfer the four unzipped files to your particular jaws directory. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean Menzies" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 5:54 PM Subject: Re: [Braillenote] brailling in Word Okay. I found and downloaded the JFW scripts for PC emulation. I unzipped the folder and read the .doc file. It says to unzip the file into the Jaws installation directory. Sorry, but this is a bit vague for me. Does this mean to place the unzipped contents in whatever folder, or does it mean put the original file there and then open it to unzip it? And what is the Jaws installation folder? I know where to put scripts, but this is different and you can go through all kinds of levels once you get to the Jaws stuff. I think the instructions expect me to be smarter about this stuff. Smile. I thought I'd be able to enter text in grade 2. If I have to use grade 1, then it won'/t be the timesaver I was hoping for. The JFW drivers you said to get from the version 7 site. Ah, are you talking BrailleNote 7 or Jaws 7? The FS site or Humanware? Once you have them installed you open terminal and there is a command space I for BrailleNote users. Once it is working you really can input text. It has to be grade 1 Braille there is no translation. Your display will show you what your typing don't get confused even though your doing the brailing in grade 1 your display shows you grade 2. confused? LOL. But one of the new features in version 7 is to be able to enter text using the BN directly into Word. How is that done? I'm thinking it is the same serial connection for braille terminal.
