I am actually using an MPower, but the same thing happens to me.
I notice it more when I am reading short things such as prompts,
games or email, not books and the like. I just have to tell it
to start reading again, not do a reset, but it sounds like a
similar problem. I have no idea how to fix it, though. Just so
you know you're not alone in the world of missing speech.

There is no pattern. I was just editing a record in a database
and
had entered about two lines in the comments field when it
suddenly
stopped speaking. I could still use the braille display and it
would
keep entering data, but no speech. I had to do a reset. This is
happening several times a week.
