Hello Walter:

Yes, even if you're inside, the MPower should be able to talk to the Blue Logger. You won't be able to pick up satelites, but the two units should still talk.

The problem you are experiencing is a fluke with the Blue Logger and the Sendero GPS. I don't think it will work with GPS version 2, but I just purchased a Holux GPSlim GR236 receiver for my version 3.5 as recommended by several members on the GPS list and it has been night and day difference. First, the unit has a tactile on/off switch and the satelite aquisition time is unbelievably fast. I'm sitting here in the middle of my living room and am still picking up 4 or 5 satelites. I don't have a clue as to why, but it just seems to be that sensitive.

But as to your Blue Logger issue, first, make sure your Blue Logger is turned on. Unfortunately, since it does not have a tactile On/Off button, this is sometimes hard to do. I've found the best way is to first turn the unit off by holding down the power buttonf for at least 5 seconds, waiting a couple of seconds and then turning it back on by holding down the button for around 2 to 3 secondes. This on/off problem drove me nuts for the first few months of ownership of the Blue Logger until I got the hang of how long 2 to 3 seconds was. Because if you hold down the button longer than that, the unit will switch itself off again. It is often easier to have some sighted assistance to help as you train. The Lights on the Blue Logger are supposidly VERY!! bright.

Now you need to pair the two units. First, goto the options menu and then connectivity. Press B for Blue Tooth and then Y to turn Blue tooth on. When asked if you want to scan for Blue Tooth devices, answer Y. You will then be presented with a list of Bluetooth devices in your local area (About 30 feet). Arrow up and down until you find the choice for the "Earthmate Blue Logger" and press enter on it. Move up and down to find active sync and press Enter. You should be given the choice to pair with and activate the Blue Logger. If asked for an authorization code enter 0000 and press Enter. Sometimes you have to do this procedure twice to make sure this paring is active.

I hope this helps and if I can be of further assistancve, please feel free to write me on or off list.

Jeff

Ladies And Gentlemen:
This is Walter Gramza from Lancaster, Ny.
I have an mpower with Keysoft version 7.0. I have a few
questions regarding the connectivity of the software with the
receiver. I keep getting the message bluetooth not detected. If
you are in a building at your desk and turn on the receiver and
then turn on the Braillenote and go to the gps menu should it
still detect the receiver even if you are sitting at your desk? I
loaded my maps by pressing not and my message is gps two maps
loaded, then I went to start and entered on that and I get the
message bluetooth receiver not detected. Any help on this master
would be appreciated. My email address is: wgramza at
verizontionet if anyone wishes to email me off list. If anyone
wishes to call me my phone number is: 716 683-5179
Thank you for any assistance you might be able to provide.
Walter Gramza
