There are lots of USB to serial devices that need drivers. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Milton M. Ota Sent: September 14, 2006 11:33 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Braillenote] USB to Serial Adapters
Most USB to serial port adapters should work with the Braillenote/voicenote with no problem. Jaws needs to recognize a serial port; com 1 or com 2 is suggested. One will need to go into the Control Pannel and go to the Device Manager, find the USB adapter you are using, and set the USB to serial port adapter to recognize the com port you want to use. If you are using a windows XP operating system, whether home or Professional Edition, the USB must be a windows XP compatible adapter. Older USB to serial port adapters will probably not work if you baught it for a Windows ME system. I hope this clarifies some questions about using the USB to serial port adapters. **************************************** Aloha: Milton M.
