Hi,
I am no expert but I can tell you from personal experience that
wireless routers can sometimes be a little finicky. The
electrical storm may have caused either a power surge or power
interruption that messed up the router. Sometimes, you can just
unplug the thing from the wall and wait a few seconds before
plugging it back in and it will reset and be just fine. We used
to live on the top of an iron ore hill and got all kinds of
elecrical storms. The worst thing that ever happened was an
answering machine actually got fried and melted a tape inside the
machine. We used to have to reset the wireless router a lot when
we lived there (grin).
Hope this helps.

Subject: [Braillenote] storms and wireless conections
Hi, I was wondering if storms effected a wireless signal? What
happened is we had a really bad storm here last night, even
though we didn't get the worst of it we still got a bad thunder
storm. Before I went to bed last night I was able to access my
internet wirelessly, I was doing this because it was safer than
using my computer in the storm. When I woke up this morning I
wasn't able connect to the wireless at all. Even when I was
standing next to the router there was nothing. This afternoon my
brother and I fiddled around and got it working again but we
don't know why it stopped working in the first place.
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this?
From Shaz.
P. s. For those of you who know me and the Canberra Blind
Society, my place is fine however the Canberra Blind Society will
be closed for a few days. The office didn't suffer any damage
but the building did and clients aren't allowed in at the moment.
When I was there today we had no power. I'm not sure when the
office will be opened again it depends on what happens with the
building, its roof came in just like a number of buildings in
Civic. If you would like to be kept up to date let me know.
