Terry, you can order SMA's whenever you want. It's not a good
thing to wait until an upgrade comes out to order. It's always
been encouraged to order an SMA early.

The main problem with your order is that you are ordering 8.0,
which is
not out yet. I see no reason why they did not split it up into 2
different orders and charge you for 7.2 and either ask you to
reorder
8.0 when it is ready or say they would charge you when it comes
out. If
I were you I would call them back or write to one of the
moderators.
