Hi Terry:

I don't want to get messed up in my wording here. If you have backed up files on a Compact Flash or Sd card, and some of them have a dot cdb extension, you can see the names, but on your Compact Flash or Sd cards, the dot cdb files don't open. Take for instance your address list dot cdb. That particular file is a KeyList file. Yes, from "file directory", you can see it, if you go to the list of "hidden files."

To back up your files on a particular drive, you would do the
following:

 1. From the Main Menu, press U for utilities.
 2. Press B for backup.
 3. You will be prompted, "back up or restore files?"
4. At this point, if you want to backup your folders press B. If you want to do an incremental backup, press I. 5. You will be prompted, "back up which folder? Press Enter for All. 6. Space down to the folder you wish to back up and press Enter.
 7. You will then be prompted, "make backup on which drive?"
8. At this point, if you choose a drive to backup to, you will then be asked if you want to back them up on a folder called the date of the day you are backing up. 9. You can press Enter, or you can type a name of a particular folder. If it doesn't exist you will be asked if you want to create a new folder. just Press Y.

Restoring Files
 1. From the Main Menu, press U for Utilities, then B.
2. You'll get the prompt, "do you wish to backup or restore files?" 3. Press R. You'll get the prompt, "restore from which drive?" 4. At the "restore from which drive" prompt, press the initial letter for your drive.
 5. You will then get the "folder name" prompt.
6. Select your folder and press Enter. You will get the prompt, "restore to which drive?" 7. You would then press F for the Flash Drive. Your files will go where they need to go.

Now that you have restored your files, from Main Menu, press F F E. Go to the drive that you created your backup on. When that folder comes up, press Enter. I am assuming you do want to erase the folder from your message.

Rhonda;
I could not think of another word for a file that you could not
open.
Locked might not have been the exact word you used, but you did
say it
could not be opened.
Terry
