Hi Richard:

First of all, is it the new ethernet card you are using? I can't remember which machine you have. If it is the new ethernet card, you first need to install the driver, then the "rugged dot exe." Which card is it?

Subject: [Braillenote] using socket low power ethernet card

Some time ago I purchased the socket low power ethernet card from
Humanware. When it arrived, it wasn't in any kind of package and
had no
documentation. Tomorrow I am picking up a router and going to
hook my
VoiceNote up using the ethernet cable and have some questions. I
have some
of the messages posted in the past on how to establish and fill
in the
connection configuration details. My questions are more on the
hardware
side of things.
1. Do I plug the socket ethernet card in while the VoiceNote is
turned on
or should it be inserted before turning on the VN?
2. Should the ethernet cable be hooked to the router hub the
first time I
do the setup of the ethernet card or do I do the card
configuration step
first and then later hook to the router?
3. When I get done with that connection and am ready to remove
the
ethernet card, should I first turn the VN off or can the card be
removed
while the unit is still on?
4. I think I remember someone suggesting that a reset be done
after
removing either the ethernet card or a wireless card. If true,
what kind
of reset should this be, a simple one or one with other keys held
down?
5. I'm purchasing a NetGear router and would appreciate any
words of
wisdom any of you gurus can offer to reduce frustrations I might
run into.
Thanks in advance for any help.
