Hi Nancy,
Key Management under Utilities Menu is there in order for the
user to enter new product key for a product. A product key is a
type of code (usually alphanumeric string) that is tied to a
piece of software; it is used to activate the software in
question (say GPS) so you can use it.
Product keys like "playtime" is generally regarded as what's
called "Easter Eggs." An easter egg is a piece of software that
is included in a software package that is usually hidden. If you
press a key combination or enter a text string in a window, the
software in question will open the "Easter Egg" - a hidden
program underneath current software. Tetris game is classified
as such (and it is a well-known example of an Easter Egg in
KeySoft).
Another Easter Egg that was "discovered" a few months ago was a
tribute to Dean Jackson, the former moderator of this list and an
employee at HumanWare. When he died in April 2006, someone at
HumanWare inserted a tribute to him which became an Easter Egg in
KeySoft 7.2. Go to Main Menu/Utilities/Key Management/Enter a
new Product Key then type dj. You'll hear a song by Dean, as
well as a text message. The song is called 8sinks.mp3 and it is
located at KeySoft System Disk/Windows folder.
A product key is tied to a piece of software, and once installed,
you don't have to retype it again in order to use it (the only
time that you'll need to do this is when you are reinstalling the
software and if it needs product key from you.).
Cheers,
Joseph

That's a good question--how do you find out what you can do with
Key Management? And, do you have to pay to get different product
keys? And is there a list of available products one can request
keys for?
Thanks

Hmmm! I never knew about this until recently . . ..
How did you all stumble on it!
It seems that if it's a "hidden extra" then it's very hit and
miss if people
find out about it.
All seems a bit silly to me, <smiles

Hello KC!
Tetris is a hidden feature in ks7. To start it: 1. Go to the
main menu and
press u for utilities.
2: Press k for key management and e for enter a new product key.
3. At the product key? prompt type "playtime" (without the
quotes.)
Unfortunately, ks 7 doesn't have any help keys.
Hth, Big D - the other Star Trek guy!

Hello "BIG D" et al!
Where did you get this game? I don't see it on my game list in
the BN.
It would be great to be able to play Blackjack or Poker on the
BN. I would also love to know how to play solitaire.
