Hi, Cindy,
I have attended every users' group meeting for k1000 since they were
instituted. The very strong impression I have always had is that you
can upgrade to the current version from wherever you are at the same
price, currently $125. Admittedly, you would have to have a fairly
recent pc model to make sense. I would think that anyone who likes
the software would not be in such an extreme situation as I used as
an example. I was trying to make a point. That company does not mes
with sma's. They just charge a single price to get the current
version. They are an exception to the rule.

This is not totally correct. You can skip some upgrades to a point but you
cannot go all the way back to version 1. I believe version 5 or 6 is the
actual cut off currently. This is because computer systems change so much
that at some point you can't simply upgrade. If I have a program that runs
on windows 95 it may also run on windows 98, windows 2000, windows
millennium but at some point, probably xp or vista, it will stop running and
upgrading cannot simply reconfigure what you have. They are however, very
generous with being able to skip upgrades and providing upgrades at a
reasonable cost.

Hi, all,
Kurzweil 1000 permits skipping upgrades. You pay the same price
whether you are going from version 10 to version 11 or from version 1 to 11.
