Hi there,
By default, BrailleNote BT units use Braille files because of
their keyboard type. Text files exists for two reasons: firstly,
this is the default type for QT users, and second, this is used
to edit mainstream document types, m'inly text, MS Word, etc.
You can find out more about it in Chapter 7 of the User Guide
under "Document Types" and "Text Documents" section. I'll
promise, I'll go over it and give you explanations in the fourth
BrailleNote podcast.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Braille types, literary, computer & file
formats
Hi folks,
I must admit to being a little confused about why I need
different types of Braille at different points.
For example, at the moment I am writing in computer Braille while
editing a text document.
If I were to go into literary Braille, does that mean that I
would be implicitly editing a Braille document? Is this something
that makes the difference between how a file is stored on the BN?
It looks like there are two formats, Braille and text is that
right?
What is the Braille format for, is it a particular method of
storing files for the BN?
Are there any good sections of the manual that might make it
clearer for me?
Many thanks for comments,
Steve.
