Hi, Brian,
The system divides words into five categories: simple words, prefix words,
prefix/suffix words and compound words. The EasyScript website has several
articles about the system and one of the articles compares it to the systems
used in court reporting. From what I have been able to discover, EasyScript
isn't as complex as the court reporting systems.
I have compiled some articles about how it works and I have also included
how I modified it to work with braille.
The basics can be learned in a few hours. I don't think it's as fast as
shorthand, but I could be mistaken.

That is, omitting the vowels under certain circumstances?
That is used by Stenographers when using stenographic shorthand,
as used by Court Reporters and the people who produce The
