Alex, you need to obtain the widcomm drivers from the manufacturer of your BT adaptor. Once you've obtained this, just uninstall the stack, ensuring you turn off your BT adaptor when prompted and restart your machine. After that, install the Widcomm software you've downloaded and, if prompted, turn your adaptor on. Hope that helps.

Alex, are you using the Widdcomm bluetooth software? If not, then
I strongly
recommend you do so, as I've discovered a bug in the Microsoft
bluetooth
software whereby serial connections appear to be lost resulting
in the BN,
or any other device that supports bluetooth serial ports,
complaining that
the port is not available. I only found this out the hard way, so
don't get
caught out! Hope this helps.

There is no bt item on the system tray, and the bt item in
control pannel
has no advanced settings or anything. Bt is already set up as a
serial
port, but with no services.

Have a great day,
Alex

Hi Alex,
On your computer, go to System Tray, select Bluetooth icon, then
at the menu that appears, go to Advanced Configuration. The
Advanced Confg window opens. Press CTRL plus TAB to go to Local
services page. Select either "PIM sync" or "Bluetooth Serial
Port" then pre%s ENTER on Properties. If it says that it is set
to start automatically, that's fine. If the "Startup" checkbox
is not checked, then you should press this checkbox to check it.
Or you can manually add a Bluetooth serial port by going to Add
Serial Port button. Type the service, check "Startup" then press
ENTER on OK.
This information comes from experiments with Witcom Bluetooth
software running under XP Pro. I've used it under Vista to no
avail.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi Alex,
Did you enable any services on your computer end?

Hi all,

I am really close to getting my bluetooth to work (what a
miracle!) and currently cannot get the serial to usb adapter.
Can
someone help: my computer shows up as a bt device, but has no
services with it.  Because of this, I cannot get it to activate;
it just says "paired" even when I tell it to activate. What
should I do? Thanks for any help.

Have a great day,
Alex
