Hi Alex,
I've just upgraded to KeySoft 7.5.20 and it seems that a lot of
bugs that were reported with KeySoft 7.5.17/18 are gone now.
Still, I've found few more bugs:
* Options Menu: The user cannot exit Options Menu by pressing
Previout thumb key.
* Quotations around database titles: In KeyBase, the character
after database title is open quote mark, not closing quote mark.
* Information under Main Menu: The copyright information for
Duxbury Translator has year "2007" in computer braille.
* Connection issues with network Ethernet (LAN) (7.5.17/18): when
connecting to email server using Socket EA2902-139 network card,
"error 10038" -- invalid socket handle -- is generated. Also, if
you try to use KeyMail to send and receive email in KeySoft
7.5.20, "error 11001" is displayed. The only solution is to use
static IP address.
* KeyMail (7.5.20): when attempting to connect to an email server
using Socket EA2902-139 network card, an error is generated with
error code 10050.
* DHCP setting not honored (KeySoft 7.5ddxx): when attempting to
use Socket EA2902-139 card to access Internet, an error with the
DHCP occurs, stating that "Windows CE Networking: DHCP was unable
to obtain an IP address." This occurs despite the fact that the
connection in question (specifically LAN connection using this
Socket card) is set to use DHCP by answering "yes" at the prompt
asking if a user wants the connection to obtain an IP addreis
automatically. Removing and recreating the connection with the
same setting results in same error message (fixed by using static
IP address as described above).
* Status message inconsistency with braille display (KeySoft
7.5ddxx and possibly earlier): when using SPACE with dots 1-5-6
(READ plus q on QT) to find out about cursor position, the
information is indented one cell -- meaning that the information
is displayed starting from the second cell instead of the first,
as usually happens with status messages.
* Translation: if a user types to type number 4 using a BT or on
a PK keyboard, the number itself is back translated as "bled."
* Inconsistencies with help messages (KeySoft 7.5.20 and possibly
earlier): there are numerous issues with help messages for
Braille Options, including:
a. Under "Prefered Braille code for English," the message "to
leave this option unchanged, press ENTER" is displayed before the
actual help for changing the prompt such as "for Grade 1, press
a."
b. In the same prompt, the shortcut for changing to Grade 1 (a)
and Grade 2 (but) is surrounded by quotation marks. The shortcut
for Computer Braille (can) does not have quotes around the
shortcut
key. This issue occurs with all prompts that asks for grade of
braille for keyboard entry.
c. There are some prompts that require a user to input a number
(such as 7 and 8) to change the setting. This includes Cursor
Shape (for both standard and computer braille), display of
Computer Braille to name a few. When invoking help, the
shertcuts that involve numbers e.g. the number to change the
cursor shape to dot 7 only (7) is surrounded by quotation marks.
Shortcuts that require non-numeral value such as to display both
dots 7-8 for displaying cursor (but) does not have quotes around
it.
* Media Center: the item (Setup Options" has spaces between words
"set" and "up" and may cause confusion for new users. All other
programs that has config data (such as KeyWord) has "Setup" as
one word.
* USB keyboard command inconsistency (KeySoft 7.5.20 and
earlier): when attaching a USB QWERTY keyboard and when
attempting to do the following two commands, it will not work:
a. If a user wants to go to KeyWeb, the shortcut command (F10 on
modthn keyboard) will not work. The user must press F10 in
conjunction with a key designated as FN (usually right Alt key)
along the usual shortcut.
b. When invoking Task Menu, the shortcut (READ plus TAB) will
not work on USB keyboard (usually Alt plus TAB is used due to the
left Alt key being assigned as READ key).
These are some of the bugs that I've observed after upgrading to
KeySoft 7.5.20. But it seems that this version is the most
stable version of KeySoft 7.5.
Cheers,
Joseph
