I back up all the time since I write my daily casenotes on my notetaker. Can't afford to lose them.

Hi Sharon

Don't worry because there is another way of copying folders that doesn't
require you copying each file individually. It is a bit more involved
though.

Go to the Utilities Menu and select "backup or restore files". When asked:
"do you wish to backup or restore files?" press B for backup.

At the "Backup which drive?" prompt, select the drive on which your folder
is located, then select the folder name. (Note: at this point you can
backup/copy the entire drive to another location.)
Keysoft then prompts: "Make backup on which drive?" so select the location.
If you intend to copy the folder to the same drive, be sure to change the
folder's name at the next prompt to prevent Keysoft throwing a tantrum, or
copying your files into the original folder.

Keysoft prompts: "Make backup in which folder? (today's date) backup". The
date is the default, but you can write whatever name you wish. When you
press enter, keysoft will inform you that no folder of that name exists, but
press Y to create it.

The files are then copied into the new folder. For some reason, they
actually appear as a subdirectory of the new folder with the original folder
name. I don't know how to prevent this.

You can access the new folder where the "filename?" prompt appears. However,
as the files are now in a subdirectory, you must press Space with T at the
folder name prompt to bring up the list of directories. Select the
folder/directory name, press enter, then select the subdirectory with enter.
You can now open your files as usual.

This backing-up method is also good practice when you have valuable files.
It is recommended that you do it once every few weeks, or daily if you
update important files that regularly.

Good luck!
Kylie

Aw. Could be my problem since I am running KS 7.1.

You must be using a ks version before 7.2. 7.2 and later give you the
ability to copy folders.

Have a great day,
Alex

There is not a copy folder option. All I see in the folder
manager is:
create folder, rename folder and erase folder.

Hi Sharon

Go into the File Manager, then Folder Manager. Press C to get
to the Copy
folder prompt. You are then asked to choose the folder
(choosing the
relevant drive first), and the location drive. Confirm the
folder name you
want to appear on the other drive and press enter. I'm not sure
if you can
use this function to copy folders into other folders, but assume
it is
possible to copy subdirectories.

Perhaps some experimentation will tell you the answer, or
someone else on
this list.

Good luck
Kylie

Hello,

Is there a way to copy a folder from one location to another on
the
Braille
Note?
