Greetings to sendero GPS users and any others who may be interested. As one who was most critical of the number 4 gps upgrade when it was first issued, I now consider the amended version very usable, and, dare I say it, especially with regard to roundabouts in the UK. Oh dear! fools rush in, don't they say. As the system stands at present, one is warned when perhaps a quarter of a mile away, that one is approaching a roundabout, and the number of the road by which you should leave the roundabout, plus the compass direction and the waypoint number. As one is progressing around the roundabout, one is again told the road number and direction of travel; this last announcement usually occurs immediately prior to making the required turn, though occasionally not much time is given, but of course, you have already been given this information. Unnecessary information there surely is. for example, in the UK, all traffic always turns left at roundabouts; there is no need to keep reminding them. When I brought this point up with Sendero, it was pointed out to me that, had it been a pedestrian route that had been requested, one might well have been told to turn right. Though I still find it confusing if there are 2 or more roundabouts in close proximity, I have now, with my wife driving of course, successfully negotiated dozens of these features and would be pleased to discuss it further if any wish to contact me personally. a thought that has just crossed my mind, perhaps the program being used is as originally offered, and has not been treated to the corrective patch.
Don Cooper.
