Hello all! I'm revising this a bit now that I'm home. I sent this to another list as well. A trip I referred to was a board meeting I went to in Butte MT. I was staying at a Holiday Inn Express in Butte MT. I wasn't able to get the internet to work there. I was dismayed to experience what I did today. Read on!
I wasn't able to send this for obvious reasons but this can happen to you. I don't understand why their policies toward internet access could not have been outlined to me when I called the desk. I'm only writing this to alert you to the fact that in some hotels internet access isn't for everyone. In some cases, you may need to pay for it even if you are a guest. I guess they don't care much about potential guests but that's their problem, not mine. This is what I wrote from the hotel. As I write this, I'm at a diabetic expo at a Holiday Inn here in Billings MT. I was able to connect to their wireless service but I needed a password so I could connect to the WEB and download EMAIL. I phoned the front desk to see if it would be possible to get a password. They said they would come down to the exhibit area where I am presently and they'd bring me a password. All fine and good! I waited a half hour or more and still didn't hear from anyone! I again phoned the front desk from my cell fhone and they said someone would be down here with the password and abruptly hung up the phone. I decided to phone the Holiday Inn reservations to complain about the treatment I received. They contacted the front desk and I was informed that if I'm not a guest, I'd need to pay for the use of their internet service. This policy varies from hotel to hotel since Holiday Inns are locally owned. This is what I was told! So if you happen not to be a guest at a hotel, you coul d run into this same situation. The service was very similar to what I saw when in Butte. Since nobody got back to me, and I was told I'd need to pay for service, I wasn't able to give the internet a try! So when at hotels, be aware that the internet may be closed to you unless you wish to pay for it especially if you are an exhibitor or just passing Out organizational materials as I was doing. Just passing this along for what it is worth! Jim Aldrich ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender.
