Oh yes, you could also get a USB to serial adapter for your PC. Or if the PC serial port is shared with another device, you could buy an a/b switch box for the serial port. Or, if the problem is the PC serial port is broken, send the PC to the friendly local PC repairman who will gladly repair it. But if the port is directly on the motherboard, as many are, ask just how much costs before you agree to the repair! Brian Brian K.
