Hi Chris, I used the steps you gave to copy my documents to the
hard drive but it did not copy the 3 folders I listed in my first
post.
Any other ideas?

if you are connected to the hard drive using usb, why not just
use the
backup utility.
u for utilities menu, b for backup, then b to backup again.
select the flash disk, folders all, then select the hard drive
and a
folder to backup to.
