Along those lines, I have found it easiest to use some odd
combination of punctuation that I know will not be repeated.
Before and after a note, I might put 2 percent signs or maybe a
[% or something like that. I can then close the note with %] and
can search for my notes with that opening string. Nowadays I
find myself using the html comment <!-- comment --!> or the
standard program comment /* comment */ but it is all the same
idea.
Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Taking notes in a class
Hi all,
Actually, why not put the book in the word processor and take
notes
within it, like every other sighted person on the planet? Put
your
notes in parentheses, e.g. (section5 Alfred Boombox important
inventor
of stereo). <giggling> Obviously, this is a purely made up
example,
but if you put stars or parens or something before your notes,
you can
find them again, and you can either transfer them to an outline
for a
paper, or copy them to a separate file after class. Me, I'd edit
the
book itself. Heck, it's your book, Stacy, do you know how many
sighted people mark up their books all, the, time? they jot
notes in
the margins, they draw smiley faces, they put arrows to point to
relevant passages, they underline or highlight passages with
pencil,
pen or highlighter. Having a book in etext means that now, you,
as a
blind person, can do your own jotting of info and marking up of
your
own books! Go for it, gal! This is the new age of the level
playing
field!
