Hi Alice and all.

I am curious to hear from others about this also and to hear the rationale behind the answers. I have heard this before that we shouldn't keep the cards in the unit all the time. I understand this in that it drains the battery faster; however, does it really have any impact on the cards? I keep my wireless card in my unit probably 80 to 90 percent of the time and have had no problems so far. My card and my BN QT 32 are only a little over a year old. The Wireless card is the Ambicom type I believe. On top of that, I keep a CF card in the unit all the time and an SD card most of the time as well (although the SD card gets switched out more frequently. I do go through my battery at least once a day as I use the unit on battery power most of the time but I have had no major problems with any of the cards or with the unit. Now, having said all that, I am not advocating that this is necessarily the proper thing to do. I would be very interested to hear why people think it is a bad idea to keep the cards in the units on a regular basis. I may choose to change the way I do things. (grin)

Have a great day y'all!

Nikki B.

Karen and all,
You mention not keeping the wireless card in the BN (I have a
PK) all
the time...is this recommended for *all* CF cards or just the
wireless ones?
I keep my CF card in the machine all the time, and I wonder if
this is not a
good idea?
Of course, the PK case does not have any pockets, so the next
problem
would be finding a good place to keep it.
Thanks.
Alice

Lauren,

I have not had any problem with my Ambicom card and it was
purchased
in 2006. Are you storing the card in your M Power case? I would
do so if I
were you and not keep it in the machine all the time.

Other than that , I don't know why it would give out like that.
