Catherine,
To obtain memory information on the PK:
1. From the Main Menu
2. SPACE with O for KeySoft Options
3. SPACE with I for Support Information mode
4. SPACE with I for Memory Information

Hi all,
I'm sorry if any of you get this message more than once, and I would have
changed the subject line but I have to use gmail on the web at the moment
and can't alter the subject line or do a reply other than what gmail calls
a
"quick reply" without getting exception errors.
I wanted to say thanks for the info/suggestions re my below problems, and
also to ask - how do I check the memory status on the PK? From Joseph's
instructions I thought I should go into the options menu but I don't see
anything about memory/support information mode in there.
Thanks,
Catherine

Just to add to this thread, Catherine, it's agreed generally that the
notetakers these days just don't seem to be able to manage the speed
some of us oldie Braillists can write at. Some of us suspect one of
the problems is the timing of the spacebar and perhaps that it gets
stuck on occasions. I don't usually encounter your problem as most of
the time I work using Braille only, just thinking that this is
probably marginally faster and also may mean less drain on the
battery. In addition, I often write in public so want to be totally
confident about writing in Braille only.
You mentioned something about one-handed, and this certainly may add
to the problems you're seeing.
In addition to the possiblity of low memory, you may find you have
almost filled your Flash disk. It's surprising how quickly it can
fill, especially if you inadvertently record a file, which then
resides in your My Memos folder and you don't notice ... Take a look
there.
Oh, there's something else I notice too and that is that speed writing
is not accomplished so well if you're actually holding the BN, or have
it resting on your knees but not very flat. Sometimes when I'm caught
out and the spacebar appears to be lagging behind, I realise I'm not
sitting in a very good position.
I do hope these pointers go some way to sorting your problems. All I
can say is that you're not alone. Anyway, it seems as though you're
taking the time to learn things and make the best out of your PK, and
that's really good.
Come back if your questions aren't fully covered with your various
responses, or if you need to ask further questions.
Cheers now.
