Hi Craig,
Before we can sort this problem out, I need to know the following:
* What version of KeySoft zre you running?
* What version of Adobe Reader and Microsoft Word did you use?
* Have you tried saving the pdf file as a text document and then opening the
resulting txt file on the BrailleNote?
* Have you tried this document on other machines to see if the problem was
reproduced?
These are just diagnostic questions...
This "exception: command" means that KeySoft was trying to access certain RAM
locaiton that it does not have access to. More specifically, KeySoft was trying
to read some memory location, but RAM manager said, "No, you have no right to
read this data." Thus, the "fatal applicaiton error" that results from it means
that KeySoft was doing something wrong - or performing some task which the CE
kernel (the heart of the operating system) decided that it is not good - in
simple terms, KeySoft did something which the kernel thought was somewhat
unwise or bad. I know this explanation sounds hard to understand (this is why
I'm thankful that I'm not a total expert like some people are).
Hope this post explained a lot.
Cheers,'Joseph P.S. Writing from a rented PAC Mate Omni QX440 (don't ask me
about this here).

Subject: [Braillenote] Fatal Exception Error

Hi list,
I was taking a History test today, and I was reading an MS Word file
that had been converted from a PDF document. It was an 8-page document. I
switched document and came back to MS Word document and got an eror "Fatal
Exception Error: Keysoft.exe has performen an illegal operation and must
shut down." After reseting and trying again, I got an error: "The process
cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." Still
further trials led to the error: "Exception: command: 398 at 258. data
misallignment." Can someone please explain what happened?
I often try to edit MS Word documents only to have them corrupt when I try
to save them. This is extremely frustrating. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
