I think it was about five years ago that they did a mother board
upgrade to the classic units. Initially the upgrade cost was
around $800. Almost three years ago they came out with the mPower
line of note takers but this required more than just a mother
board change to implement. I would guess there will be more
hardware changes in the future to keep up with changing
technology and expectations but it is not something that can be
done too often. There are hardware changes I would like right now
like user replaceable batteries, built in wifi and ethernet
connectivity but we will all have to just sit back and see what
happens and when.

This is just a general question about upgrades and such. I have
only been a BN user for less than 2 years so I don't have much of
a history to base my expectations on. I keep hearing on this list
that certain features will require a hardware upgrade for the BN
if Humanware chooses to include those features in a future
version of Keysoft. My question is this. How realistic is it to
think Humanware would even offer a hardware upgrade? Has this
happened in the past? I realize there was an upgrade from the
classic BN to the M power but weren't people expected to purchase
new units or pay for hardware upgrades? Somehow, I don't imagine
any kind of hardware upgrade will be included with our regular S
M A agreements. Also, if we are all required to send our units in
for the hardware to be upgraded, I imagine it would take a great
deal of time for everyone to get their units upgraded as I expect
there would be a high demand for this.
Please understand I am not trying to be negative. I am simply
trying to figure out how a hardware upgrade would be implamented
when and if this option becomes a reality. Thanks for any
insights y'all may have.
