Hi Marsha,
You can't use an exclamation mark in a WEP key. The key must only
contain the number digits zero to nine and the alpha letters "A"
through "F." In other words, the WEP key must be a legal hex
value. I believe the case of the letters counts. If the router
shows the letters in the key as capitals, then you must use them
in caps in your connectivity configuration setup. You should be
entering the WEP key into your connectivity configuration in
computer braille, so do use the lower cell numbers without a
number sign and all letters in the same case your school district
router has it entered in. I'm shooting from memory here but am
fairly certain if you are using 64 bit encryption, the key must
be ten hex characters long and if you are using 128 bit
encryption, recommended, it must be 26 hex characters long.
I believe the above to be correct but I am sure one of the gurus
on the list will correct me if memory failed here.
Hope this helps

Subject: [Braillenote] entering wep key within connection
configuration
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to enter an exclamation point as part of a
wep key? I know the computer braille sign for an exclamation
point is dots 2,3, 4, and 6. At this time, I am not sure if my
problem with this wep key is the exclamation point or the
numbers. I have tried entering the numbers as lower cell numbers
and that doesn't seem to be right either. I am trying to connect
to my school districts network and my wireless adapter is
supposedly capable. Any ideas?
Marsha
