The theory of one code is great, but the ueb is a very poor solution and I
hope the U.S. _never adopts it! Everybody would have to learn a totally new
math and science code! No, thanks!
If people want to use it as an option ok but don't force that code onto me!

The idea behind UEB was so all english speaking countries could use the
same braille code but not all countries have decided to take it up. US is
one country that I know of that are not choosing to use UEB. I think the
idea behind UEB is great because the old system was silly, like New
Zealand was using a different code to us here in Australia and countries
that close to each other should be able to exchange braille documents
without the people needing to know two different codes. Even though we use
a different code to US now I can still read this document I was sent by a
friend but I just can't use my speech or I have to change my reading
language.

Hi, you are wrong about UEB. I use it all the time because that
is what we use in Australia and we still have the ER contraction.
I have been reading a braille file that a friend in US sent me
and the only contractions that aren't in UEB that the US have as
far as I can tell is the double D, the ally and the ble.
I think Shannon's problem is what someone else suggested which is
it is currently set to display in grade one instead of grade two.

I may be wrong, but it looks like to me that you're in Ueb mode
instead of Us mode. Ueb doesn't allow several signs.
My other comment is that I hope we never go to the Ueb braille
system.
