Hi Siena,

An access violation means that an application, (in this case KeyWeb), tried to access a memory address it was not allowed to. If you were pasting, it could be because KeyWeb does have read access to that memory address, but not write access. But you said you have also seen the problem when copying from within KeyWeb. That should mean that it has not even got read access to that address. It may well be a bug in KeyWeb, or in CE Windows memory management, (Windows is probably doing the memory handling for KeyWeb).
Oh!
It might be that the type of field on the web page is not right.
Is it represented by "&& yy"?

I'm not sure there's much that can be done in the very near future. You could use the KeyMail, but you're right, that does take longer. You could try to put together a case that consistently reproduces the problem and ring HW about it. I.e., find a web page where if you try to paste some specific text to it, you get the problem. Let HW know the page and exact text and steps taken to see the problem. If they can reproduce it, they have something solid to go on - if it's a bug, hopefully it's not there in any next release. If they are currently developing their next release, it would be something to test on it.

Regards,
Steve.

Subject: [Braillenote] HW staff help needed: access violation
writing yaddayadda yadda

Hi all,

Sorry for the repeat, I have posted a message on this subject on
countless occasions in the past, but have yet to receive a
response.
So, I ask that if possible, if someone in HumanWare tech support
or
software development can get back to me that would be great.

It seems to me that if I'm writing or reading a long text from
within
an edit field in KeyWeb, I get the weird message: exception. Edit
command. Access violation writing yadda yadda yadda, whatever the
numbers are. I'd like to know what is going on, what exactly am I
violating? Is there only a certain number of characters/words
that
Keysoft will allow me to write in an edit field? And
incidentally, why
won't Keysoft let me copy/paste long pieces of text from KeyWord
into
Keyweb? I don't want to have to use the computer every time I
write a
long letter by email, I don't always have access to a computer so
I
primarily use the BN for internet use. and also I'm subscribed to
a
bunch of lists, so KeyMail would take forever to download all the
messages. I get these error messages all the time, and I'm
finding
them very frustrating to deal with. Is this a bug in KeySoft? Is
there
any way that this can be resolved?

Thanks in advance,

The frustraded Siena.
