I think the problem you may be having with the word cliche
(cliché) depends on whether you are using American English or
English English (the Queen's) in your dictionary/thesaurus. I
hope that sentence makes sense, but I mention this possibility
because my dictionary/thesaurus often has trouble with words when
I use the English English spellings.
