Hi Rose and list,
This is the reason why I and others advocated for OS upgrade to at least CE
5.0. CE 5.0 and up supports complex formatting such as tables and images.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. The reason why complex documents will not work correctly is
because of memory footprints (easy to say, but hard to explain with my
limited knowledge about programming).

Therein lies the problem, most of what I need is complex documents. I spent
a lengthy time trying to transcribe instructions for a new platform we were
using at work so I could have access to those instructions on the Braille
note, no way could I convert this document into a readable form, send it as
text was a mess, backtracking to Word 97 was not successful, and so
eventually I had to read the file on the computer and input it into the BN
and although I transcribe all day, I generally type, not Braille so this
took some time.

Hi,
I have Word XP on my home computer and can indeed read basic documents that
have been created using Word XP on my BN. If I add complex formatting such
as tables, though, all bets are off. There's no way I'll be able to read
that kind of document on my BN. It just ain't gonna happen. To be fair,
though, I have run into the same problem on my Dell Axim X51V PDA with
Mobile Speak Pocket, so the problem is by no means unique to the BN.
Tomorrow, when I get to my office and have a chance to check this situation
out on a Pacmate Omni I'll see what happens there and get back to the list.
Should be interesting.

Tom

Hello all,

Unfortunately Word 2007 wil not work on the BN. However, Word XP
and Word 2003 will work and I have had very few problems. I don't know why
others are having so many problems with these documents.

As Ray said, it is a Microsoft issue despite the fact that some of you
don't like to hear that. There was a reference made to other products which
have "solved" the conversion issue. One of these uses Pocket Word rather
than Windows CE or Compact Edition. That's a difference right there. I
can't say anything about other products because I don't know what they use.

Again, I haven't had anywhere near the problems with Word XP or Word 2003
that some others seem to be having.

Thanks.
