THINGS OR SOME OF THEM THAT I JUST MENTION; BUT ESPECIALLY NEED
THE CALCULATOR.
SOME LIKE YOU SAID ARE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROBABLY SO A VARIETY
OF THE FEATURES MAY BE NEEDED!
AND YES YOUR CORRECT THE FM RADIO IS SOFTWARE; PARTLY ANYWAY.
BECAUSE MINE WAS FIXED WHEN I UPGRADED MY VOICENOTE FROM KEYSOFT
7.2 BUILD SOMETHING I CAN NOT REMEMBER NOW; TO KEYSOFT 7.5 BUILD

I USE IT A LOT BECAUSE I HAVE TROUBLE SLEEPING AND IT IS EASIER
WITH MY CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME TO JUST TURN ON THE VOICENOTE AND
PLUG IN EARPHONES; THAN TO TRY NOT TO ELECTROCUTE MYSELF PLUGGING
IN MY CD PLAYER / STEREO AND TRY TO FIND THE CORRECT BUTTON WITH
NUMB FINGERS!

MY VOICENOTE GOES EVERYWHERE WITH ME TOO!
I AM TRYING TO SAVE SOME MONEY TO PURCHASE IN A YEAR OR SO A
BRAILLENOTE; BECAUSE I WOULD LOVE THE BRAILLE OUTPUT; AS WELL AS
THE SPEECH OUTPUT!
FIRST I HAVE TO HAVE A SURGERY TO GET SOME OF THE FEELING BACK IN
MY FINGERS THOUGH!

I recall an educator of the blind saying something which some of

on this list are forgetting--mainly, I suppose, because you have
been
good Braille readers for years and it's deeply part of you. That
educator said that the games are invaluable for teaching children
Braille skills and direction concepts, among other things. I
think
it's time you thought about others who may either need or want
the
games. I'm not a gamer, but I have taught English. Games often
help
kids learn important concepts. So I'm glad they are there. You
don't
have to use that feeature. There are a lot of things in the BN I
don't use, but I know others do use them, so I'm not complaining.
I
get the sense that some on this list want this device totally
tailored to their own niche without concern for others. Somebody
this
morning expressed a desire for larger speaker. Have you thought
about
what that could do to the weight. The speaker is certainly
adequate
for voice, and the headphone jack is good. I'm just losing
patience
with some of the knitpicking lately. Please, ladies and
gentlemen,
don't we have better things to do here? Now I know people want to
dream, want to put for wish lists, but let's ask ourselves
whether or
not some feature we do not like may be very valuable to someone
else
and try to view things in a broader way. The radio happens to be
software, as I recall Jonathan Mosen saying when he was with
Humanware. I use mine occassionally and am glad it's there. I
don't
use the planner. Does that mean I should holler about its
presence?
Of course not. I recognize its value to others. Now that is an
example. Beyond email, I don't visit Web sites with my BN. I use
a
full-blown computer--laptop or desktop. I am, however, glad it's
there. Now I'm not aiming this at anyone in particular--just
asking
us all to back off a bit and gain someperspective. These are
great
Braille devices. Mine goes everywhere with me. In fact, I just
bought
a used one as a back-up because I could not resist the price.
I hope you will take my comments intended--definitely not as a
condemnation of anyone here. So let's be a positive community of
users and think out of the box sometimes. If you have read this
far,
I warmly thank you all, and please forgive this something of a
exasperated rant.

I agree with you and would say that the games and radio are
luxuries we can
do without. I don't use the games at all anymore. Oh yes I
checked a
couple of them out when they first came out but that was a couple
of years
ago I think and I haven't checked them, out since and don't
intend to.
These things could be sold separately for those who insist on
having them.

With all due respect, no on the walky talky feature. You can get
push to
talk and direct connect cell phones for that. Strictly a
personal opinion,
but I think the FM Radio is a piece of junk and ought to be done
away with.
I can't even get it to pick up our local jazz station and we're
less than a
mile from its tower.
