Hi Zach, In theory, yes, since it requires compression of wav format. MP3 (MPEG Layer 3) is just a compressed version of WAV (Pure Wave Sound). Many sounding algorithms, such as information about pitch and tone is stored in a such compressed way that CPU's sometimes have hard time reading compressed mp3 files (which means that it is somewhat slower to record using mp3 codec because the sound info would be compressed to fit tight space). Although, when using good quality codec, mp3 files sound just like a pure uncompressed wav files. The best person to ask about processing power when using mp3 as a file type for recording would be someone who has background in using audio editors (not me, though). Cheers, Joseph
