Hello Frank,
There are several of us that have been monitoring the list and we
are
aware of the comments regarding bookshare access. We are
sometimes
hesitant to respond immediately without the accurate information
that is
provided by the software developers. Its easy to post what
people want
to hear but we don't want to make false promises. At the same
time, we
don't want to announce what we have planned in feature upgrades
until we
can confirm they really work and can provide a realistic release
date.
So it's a tough balance. All I can say is that we are well aware
of this
change at bookshare and prepared with a solution. There will be
a
statement on the list hopefully this week as most of the comments
occurred over the week.
Thanks again for sending your message and we really all
understand the
importance of this topic.
Regards,
Dominic

I don't know who's monitoring the list so I thought I should send
this
to the staff who's e-mail addressi I have.
Please let me know who else I should be sending it too.
I am a bookshare subscriber and am alarmed at the announcement
too. I
will be writing them but have not had a chance to formulate a
letter.
Thanks and I look forward to a reply to the list from a staff
member.

FinalAnnouncement!

Hi all,
OK, now I've seen the announcement. It's times like this when I
really,
really, really, really wish that Humanware staff would quit just
browsing the list and wake up and say something! This is why
rumors
start. This is why anxiety begins. This is why one's customer
base is
important and should be made aware of what is going on.
As a humanware customer, one who has a Stream as well as a
Classic BN,
access to bookshare is important. I hope that humanware is
working on
this patch and that it will indeed be done soon.
I can't talk about the new web site, but I am sure that humanware
has a
vested interest in making its products work successfully with
Bookshare.
I hope that this patch will work on the classic BN's as well as
the
MPower and PK. These are crucial questions, and should have been
answered by humanware staff long before now.
Actually, I will say that I'm more concerned about the actual act
of
downloading as opposed to the unzipping of files. I can't say
any more
than that. However, I reiterate my plea for humanware staff to
take an
active part on this list by sending a notice as to what they are
doing
and how long it is going to take.
<sigh> Why is it always the consumers who have to stem the tide?
Why is it our job as thinking and responsible consumers to help
humanware quell rumors and stop knee jerk reactions? Why is it
*my* job? If I'm working for humanware, then somebody in the
finance
office needs to send me some money!
OK, folks, calm down, take three deep breaths, and let's see if
Humanware steps up to the plate. Give them till Monday.
Remember some folks are in New Zealand. Others are in Quebec and
can
and should act, please!
