I don't believe you can do either of these things, but if you go into
the setup options of the planner, you should be able to configure the
alarm so that the volume is extremely low, and only goes off for a
matter of seconds before shutting off.  But I think (correct me if I'm
wrong, somebody) disabling the alarms on the BrailleNote will disable
reminders in Outlook, and hence on your cell as well.

Not at this time, sorry.  You could, however, set up a briefcase on
your SD card (File -> New -> Briefcase from Windows Explorer), then
paste in any files or folders from your PC that you want synchronized.
 Note that this only works when you are using a card reader to access
your SD card on your PC; it will not work through ActiveSync.
