Hi,

I created a database a while ago just containing a number and document field. I had used this for a number of tests, but left just the definitions file.
(I deleted the data file to clear out all the data).

I took a look at the definitions file size using file directory.
It said it was 803 bytes.
I then went into KeyBase and created the .cdb data file.
Checked the definitions file size which now said 356 bytes.
I imported a CSV file of 45 records, all quite small.
Definitions file size then, 6524.
Deleted the .cdb file.
Definitions file size returned to 803.

Now to check further, just created another two field database, one number and one string. When both definitions and data file there and empty, definitions file was 356.
Imported the same 45 records and definitions was 6528.
Deleted the .cdb file, definitions size now 797 bytes.

It seems as though similar things happen with Keylist definitions files - it was the odd size of "Email folders" that got me to look at databases. This might just be something unusual in the calculation of size and no real problem. But it might mean that KeyBase, KeyList and KeyMail aren't using their files properly. It's perhaps more likely to be incorect size information, as all three utilities mostly work. Also, <space>i, (for file information), retrieves different data from a definitions file, like number of records, so it may well not be getting the size in the same way as for more normal files.
Would be nice to have it more reliable though.

Regards,
Steve.
