Hello Maurice,

I know what spring you are talking about. Wouldn't it feel odd when
pressing the spacebar, as though it is sticking or something? I will have
someone see how it looks when she is pressing the spacebar.

Thank You,
Sharon

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Spacebar on Notetaker Not Working

Hi Sharon,

The Space bar on all models has a U shaped wire located under the Space Bar
cap that when correctly in place ensures that the key goes down no matter
what part of the key cap is pressed. I will refer to this as the "U Bar".

I would suspect that this bar is not correctly located and if your student
hits the Space bar cap at either end, rather than the centre portion, it is
not registering as a key press.

You may need someone with some sight to take a look at the key when it is
pressed first at the left most end and then at the right most end.
It the U Bar is correctly in place the key cap will depress in a parallel
manner. If the U Bar is misplaced the cap will go down at the end it is
being pressed and "pop-up" at the other end.

Regards

Maurice

Subject: [Braillenote] Spacebar on Notetaker Not Working

Hello,

I have a student using a QWERTY Braille Note M. Power running Keysoft
7.5
Build 29 and she has mentioned that her spacebar physically operates okay,
but it does not always place a space when she presses the spacebar in a
document. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I did suggest that
maybe, unknowingly, she was pressing one of the function keys as she was
pressing the spacebar. She would not hear the bong since she types her
notes with the speech turned off. Anyone's assistance would be greatly
appreciated to solve this mystery.
