Hello.

I have been having some issues with my wireless internet connection.

It all started on Sunday afternoon. I was browsing the internet when the bn suddenly decided to try and connect to another network. It tried to connect to a network which I had set up for a completely different location, thus it was unavailable. But when I tried to reconnect to my home network, it just said "Please wait" and just sat there. The network also didn't show up when I scanned for wireless networks (it is a visible network). I tried everything including resets, removing and re-inserting the card (multiple times with the unit on and off) and even re-creating the connection configurations database; all with no success. Then my brother reset the wireless router (he pulled the plug out of the wall socket, waited for about 10 seconds and then plugged it back in again). Now the bn found my home network. But when I tried to connect, it got as far as showing "connecting to virgin" (Virgin Media is my ISP so I called the config virgin) and just sat there again. After about 2 to 3 minutes, it finally connected (it usually takes about 5 to 10 seconds to connect). But when I tried to go on the internet, it brought up a "Cannot Find Server" page. Keymail also gave me an error 11001 (I think that was the error code anyway) when I tried to check my email. So I thought it might just be a temporary problem with Virgin Media so I gave up for the night.

The next day I tried to connect and still had the same problems. So my Dad tested our desktop PC and that connected to the internet just fine so it doesn't look like there's a problem with the router or Virgin Media. Luckily, i'm able to use ActiveSync to connect to the internet. However, this is not always going to be possible so I really need to get this wireless connection working again.

The only thing I could think of is that my wireless card is dying. I have had the card for at least a year, though i've only been using it since around October 2008. My Dad went to a local computer shop and asked whether the wireless card might be dying. They said that wireless cards don't wear out unless they are overheated by the equipment. They suggested changing channels and settings on the router, but seeing as no-one in my family is an advanced tech expert, messing around with the router would probably do more harm than good. It's all been working fine until Sunday afternoon.

I am using an Ambicom wireless card (I don't know the exact model number, but I think it's the older Ambicom B card). I have a braillenote MPower BT32 running keysoft 7,5 build 29.

Any advice/suggestions?

Thanks.

PS. Sorry about the long email.
